Unlocking the potential of existing spaces to create dream bathrooms!

Harpers Interiors help unlock the potential of existing spaces to create dream bathrooms across the North of England.

Over the last three years we have noticed a marked increase in customers requesting bathroom designs. And with good reason. Bathrooms are often found in small or unusual shaped rooms and may have additional complications such as low or angled ceilings.

At Harpers Interiors we can help you get the most from your layout and really elevate your bathroom. In a lot of cases, with some careful planning and of course a site survey by one of our highly skilled team, plumbing can be repositioned to alter the existing layout of your room.

There are times when this will not be possible but some clever thinking is all that is needed to take your bathroom to the next level. Some of our most recent projects are pictured alongside.

We are noticing a shift away from chrome brassware to a variety of finishes including brushed brass, bronze and polished nickel. We would always encourage our customers to spend a little bit more on brassware for longevity as this is where you really do get what you pay for.

As with brassware we are seeing braver choices for shower screens; the new crittall-style shower screens being a current favourite for us. Frameless made to measure glass shower screens are still amongst our most popular.

Although we favour the classic look of natural materials in bathrooms, we have seen a shift away from travertine, marble and natural stone. There has been a move towards to the beautiful new Italian and Spanish porcelain tiles now available, often indistinguishable from natural stone or even wood. Porcelain tiles are appealing as they are highly durable, low maintenance and more moisture resistant than natural products which can require regular maintenance.

We used four large format 1.2 metre x 2.4 metre book-matched porcelain tiles to stunning effect as a feature backdrop, offsetting a beautiful soft matt, egg shaped bath in our country house project. A feature wall was also created in the 2 metre shower using 3 large format tiles from the same range.

The majority of our bathrooms feature custom made cabinetry that could happily sit in a living space. Incorporating bespoke pieces of furniture provides more flexibility allowing us to use previously under utilised space such as alcoves or bulk heads. For a truly luxurious finish, we love adding beautiful composite stone counter tops to our vanity units which can prove to be surprisingly cost effective as a relatively small piece can be used for multiple surfaces within a bathroom such as a windowsill.

Beautiful lighting, wall coverings, paint, accessories and art are central to adding layers of interest to our bathroom designs.

As with most of our larger scale interior design projects, our bathrooms are project managed from start to finish by one of our experienced team helping to remove any potential stresses for our customers.
